With Benitez having left the club around two weeks ago, the Magpies have yet to name their new boss.

A host of names have been linked with the job including Sam Allardyce who confirmed he turned down the job.

Mikel Arteta and Patrick Vieira are also names to be linked with the vacant Newcastle job.

With the Premier League season fast approaching, Newcastle really need to make a decision on their new boss.

Well, according to the Telegraph, Newcastle have done exactly that.
The report from the Telegraph on Thursday claims that baring any last minute problems, Steve Bruce will be named as the new Newcastle boss.

The North East outfit are hopeful of having Bruce named as boss by this weekend.

Bruce has previously spoken out about the links and he appeared to know nothing about them:

“It’s news to me. God only knows what happened on Tuesday afternoon. There seemed to be an upsurge [in the betting] from somewhere.

“John Terry was favourite yesterday. It was Mikel Arteta the day before, so who knows? As far as I am concerned, I am here, I am going home tomorrow and looking forward to walking the dog.” As quoted by the Mirror.
