In a statement, the council said that it always appreciated any assistance from the central government in infrastructural projects. It deemed that the government’s idea to rebuild Valley Road was an important project to improve the quality of life of its residents. It said it understood that such projects take time.
But the council expressed concern that one year since the start of the project, it is still in its early stages and it causing inconvenience to the residents of the area. It is not idea to live in a road full of dust and open ditches, the council said.
It called on the authorities concerned to carry on with the project and complete it in the shortest time possible.
The council said it did not want to turn the issue into a political football. Its main concern was the interests of the residents, the council said.
